8BitDo Launches Their New “Ultimate Controller” for PC and Switch
8BitDo dropped a bomb on us today with the launch of their new Ultimate Controller for PC and Nintendo Switch. Let’s take a look and see what it’s all about!
As you probably already know… 8BitDo doesn’t miss with their controllers; both in design and performance.
They make top of the line game controllers that rival the first-party offerings. And I’ve never heard a single complaint about them.
We recently took a look at their “Pro 2” Line of Controllers, and we just went ahead and ordered two for good measure.
And 8BitDo took some obvious spots on our lists of Best Wireless GameCube Controllers, the Best Nintendo Switch Controllers, and the Best SNES Accessories.
They released their Ultimate Controller for Xbox about a month ago, but the new PC/Switch version dropped just a couple hours ago.
So let’s take a look at their latest offering and see why it’s so “ultimate”.
It’s now available on Amazon here.
- Custom button mapping
- Three custom profiles with quick switch button
- Two Pro back paddle buttons
- Programmable macros
- Adjustable distance triggers
- Motion control & vibration
- Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4g, or USB-C wired connection
- Charging dock
- 1000mAh Li-on battery (22 play hours with 2-3 hours charging time)
The Ultimate Controller is currently compatible with Windows PC and the Nintendo Switch.
We anticipate that more compatibility is coming (and probably already working), but those are the ones they can guarantee in their marketing.
And in case you are wondering “why would anybody want a wired controller in 2022?”…
As we discussed in our article about the Best Controllers For Fighting Games, we expressed the importance of ultra-responsive input in advanced level gaming.
Nobody wants to watch their avatar fall to the floor because their wireless controller had an ever-so-slight delay in response.
In short: we freakin’ love it.
8BitDo certainly has delivered what is probably their most beautiful and comprehensive controller yet.
Obviously, it’s not gonna work well if you’re into fighting games (because you will almost always want six action buttons), and it’s not gonna be great for PS4-5 because it lacks the touchpad function.
But, as you should expect, the design is gorgeous. And we can certainly imagine adding this to our gaming collection for Nintendo Switch and PC game play.
8BitDo really delivered on the “ultimate” promise, giving us one of their most customizable controller to date.
With a list price of $69.99… we have absolutely no problem hitting the “Add to Cart” button with no regrets.
We can’t wait to get one in the studio and get our first-hand-experience and see if it lives up to our excitement.
Let’s be real: it’s 8BitDo.. it will not disappoint.
